Buffalo Billiards, a real piece of “Wild West” history is located on Austin’s historic Sixth Street district, across from the Driskill hotel. This turn-of-the-century building was built in 1861 by the Ziller Family and named the Missouri House. Touted as Austin’s first boarding house and rumored to be a brothel, many a cowboy had a good time here.

Today, the Missouri House holds a new name: Buffalo Billiards. Billiard Digest magazine named it the nation’s Best New Pool Hall in 1999; the year it opened. Buffalo Billiards continues to carry out the “Wild West” traditions with a modern twist, from dueling pool sharks, shoot outs at the dart boards, or some good old rowdy fun.

Come in after a long day at the ranch and experience a bit of history in over 22,000 square feet of entertainment. With over 30 new HD TV’s, every sports package, from college to pro; Buffalo Billiards is the place to “Get Your Game On!”.

Fun place to hang out, especially if you’re looking for more of a chill place rather than a loud club or crowded bar.
Drinks aren’t cheap but they do have a happy hour, so if you go at that time, it’s alright.
I would say to go there early-ish (between 7-9) that way there’s plenty of open games (they have billiards, foosball, air hockey, shuffleboard and darts, FUN!) and you’re not surrounded by creeps. Haha.

A good way to start your night before you head to the clubs.

The only bad thing I noticed was that it took a while to get a drink, and this was when it was pretty empty and the upstairs wasn’t open yet because it was still early. Having been to really crowded bars/clubs during “prime-time”, this seems a bit unreasonable.

But if you’re not in any rush to get your drink, it’s a pretty cool place overall.

My husband and I took a trip to Austin in October for ACL Fest. We happened about BB our first night there and we LOVED it there!! Reminded us so much of our childhood, I haven’t played shuffleboard since I was like 7. They charge by the hour to play pool and shuffleboard but it’s pro-rated, wasn’t really that expensive any ways. Drinks were decently priced too! They also have pinball, air hockey, darts, foosball and skee ball. We stayed in Austin for 7 nights and we were in BB’s for at least 4 of them!! The last day of our festival was rained out so we spent our Sunday there. There really aren’t too many places around Rochester like this, but there should be! I was so sad to leave here for the last time. I recommend it to anyone visiting Austin or even living there who hasn’t been! Let the games begin!

Alright, so I’ll be 100% honest. My review is going to be based on their Pinball status. Which is in my opinion the next best place in town for pinball after Pinballz. (And that’s only the case due to sheer volume of pinball tables at Pinballz)

They dedicated a secluded corner of the place to pinball where they’ve got about 12 tables that are all set to reasonable prices. The operator works there so they’re always taken care of and they host monthly tournaments. It’s a blast.

As far as the rest of the place goes, it’s better than your average dirty 6th bar. Spacious, plenty of entertainment while not being overwhelming and pretty cool decor.
There’s always a decently priced beer to be had.

I had a fun time here during a Thanksgiving trip for family. In the chaos of a holiday with family, I screwed up and left behind my Driver’s License which I had used as a deposit for one of the games.

Weeks later I am back in CA, and finally connect the dots on where I last for sure had my license. I call up Buffalo Billiards. They’ve still got it. I ask them if they’ll do me a huge solid and pack it up and send it out to me. After some basic verification that it really is me, they do it promptly, and even throw in a gift card.

Granted, it will be a while before I get back there, but hey, still classy. Definitely just went the extra mile to help out a customer. And I had a great time while I was there. Thanks to the whole staff!

My boyfriend and I came here because we haven’t played billiards in a while. So when we saw this place, we had to go in. The rates here are really cheap. We played pool for about half and hour and shuffle board for an hour and it only added up to be $8 total. It was awesome! They had a happy hour going on as well, so it was $3 for any draft. If I lived in Austin, I would be hitting this place up every night. Great place to go and hang out with friends. Would recommend coming here.
