The Hideout is downtown Austin’s oldest independent coffee house. We are open morning to night, weekdays and weekends and serve beer, wine, fresh sandwiches, pastries, ice cream, as well as an assortment of beverages and coffee drinks.

Located at the Hideout Theatre, Austin’s Improv Comedy Headquarters, we proudly feature vegan ice cream from our friends at Sweet Ritual and baked goods from Scissortail Savories & Sweets, and our specialty craft cocktails were designed by Laura Nixon of Bad Dog Barcraft.

You can bring food and drink from the coffee house up into the theatre to enjoy during a performance!

Looking to cater an office meeting or event? The Hideout’s got you covered. Contact our catering department to place an order.

Join us for Happy Hour every day from 5 – 7pm and all night Wednesday! $3 beer and $5 for all of our wine and specialty craft cocktails.

Super cute coffeehouse with a hidden theater in the back, hence the name! During my stay in Austin, I had my daily coffee from here, double iced americano. The last day wasn’t as good as the others, but overall I’d come back. Very nice, friendly staff too.

The Hideout is awesome. This is the place to chill in the morning when the hustle and bustle of downtown Austin is at its peak. The vibe is calm, cozy, and the coffee is second to none. With an eclectic music and art selection, you are always certain to see or meet some interesting people.

Last night after dinner we wanted to grab some decaf coffee and got on the inter-webs to find the Hideout Coffee House. We ordered and were sort of waiting around for our drinks and heard hysterical laughing. The place was completely dead and I asked what was going on. As it turns out it was an Inprov comedy show in an intimate space located at the back of the building. The owner heard us talking and invited us to see the show free of charge. Being a doer – I had to do, and had the best time ever. However, the show started at ten and let out at midnight. That doesn’t make for an easy 5am wake up.

Hotel dining is highway robbery, so it was worth the half-mile trek to Hideout for substantive cold brew iced coffees and perfectly satisfactory breakfast tacos. The feel is laid-back bohemian. They unpretentiously offer a whole menu of “specialty” sweet drinks, and there’s a space in the back for stand-up comedy.

Definitely keeping it local at this coffeehouse. They make Starbucks quality drinks, keep prices low, and have a handful of other local eating selections for lunch/snacks. The ambiance is fairly quiet so you could actually get work done here as well!

Early morning they have some bomb breakfast tacos, but you gotta get there early.

The wife and I went here after a night at a great night at… you guessed it…. the opera. The fist thing to tell you is if you go after the opera; head over directly, as they stop serving food at 11pm. The nachos were AMAZING; but a bit overpriced. It’s great for what it is – late night eating near the civic center

Very good coffee. Was looking for a mocha coffee and the specialty, Gorilla mocha was great – better than any crappy mocha coffee I’ve ever had at Starbucks. Friend says the Yin-Yang was also very good.

Downtown, and need a place to chill where you can, like, chill?

This is what coffee houses used to be like: cool, comfortable, low-key. The kind of place where you just start up conversations with other people based on their hair or shoes or the phone they’re flashing. Cause its easy.

The coffee’s good, the prices are fair, the servers look you in the eye, and there’s plenty of room to lounge and visit which, on a cold afternoon, is much better than drowning your sorrows in a beer.

Yes, the parking is a bitch: its downtown, remember? But if you want to be treated like a human, meet some interesting peeps and really get to relax even if its just for a few moments, skip the corporate stores and try the Hideout.

    You can thank me later.
