The Blues Brothers & The Sacred Hearts at Purple Party 7, presented by AT&T, May 16th in Dell Hall.
From Saturday Night Live, to the top of the music charts, and now Dell Hall: the Long Center is thrilled to announce that The Blues Brothers will headline this year’s Long Center gala, Purple Party 7, presented by AT&T.
Over the years, many have taken the stage behind their dark sunglasses, skinny ties, and black felt fedoras to pay homage to the legacy of Jake and Elwood, but only a select few belong amongst the official pantheon of The Blues Brothers – genuine, bona fide members of the family, carriers of the flame.
Dan Aykroyd is an Academy Award nominated and Emmy Award winning actor, comedian, musician, writer—and, most recently, business entrepreneur. He became a regular on Saturday Night Live in 1975 due to his political satire, powered by flawless impersonations of Presidents Nixon and Carter. Jim Belushi first came to national attention through his role in the Edward Zwick film About Last Night, with Rob Lowe and Demi Moore. In 1983, he joined the cast of Saturday Night Live for two years.
The Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long Center is Austin’s Creative Home, built by the community, for the community.
Our mission is the commitment to provide performing artists and organizations in the Greater Austin region with facilities and services that foster excellence, encourage originality and promote collaboration. To broaden the appreciation and enhance enjoyment of the cultural arts, we connect diverse audiences to significant local, regional, national and international artists and performances in a world-class venue.
The Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long Center is Austin’s only live entertainment venue to embrace and emphasize local talent and art, with over 80% of performances coming from local artists. We inspire creativity and collaboration, and even our grounds are open to social and community groups and events like boot camps, flash mobs, weddings, meetings and races.
Visitors enjoy unprecedented views of the Austin skyline and Lady Bird Lake from the Long Center. Beneath the iconic “Terrace Ring,” the Long Center City Terrace invites the community to experience unmatched views during intermission, or while attending outdoor concerts or free community events like Bubblepalooza and Trailer Food Tuesday.
Our eclectic programming appeals to all ages and interests. From ballet, symphony and opera to Shakespeare, tap dance, children’s theatre, musical theatre, comedy and outdoor concerts, we have something for everyone. Performers include both touring acts and local homegrown shows. Harry Connick, Jr., Leonard Cohen, Blue Man Group and Grupo Fantasma are just a few of the favorite performers who have come through the Long Center.
