The Brixton- East 6th Street Bar – Your neighborhood haunt with a covered patio serving craft cocktails & local beer, plus a jukebox & TVs.

The Brixton opened in October of 2009 as a Clash themed neighborhood punk dive bar. The bar changed owners in June of 2011 and adapted to the quickly changing East 6th Street neighborhood with seasonal drink menus, local Austin draft beers and plenty of places to sit and chill with your friends. After a major remodel in November of 2012 we’ve hosted plenty of parties, celebrity guest bartenders, DJ nights, and bad ass SXSW parties. A cozy covered patio with heaters in the winter & fans in the summer, a killer juke box, plenty of TVs to watch whatever you’re in to, and a top notch professional foosball table that’s free every Tuesday. We’re available for private events, happy hour get togethers and SXSW events. Swing by when you’re on the east side. Bring your dog if you want. We love the pups.

  1. Came here last night for Monday bingo night, it was so much fun! Everyone got a round of free shots and free pizza, how nice is that? And watching people sing/dance in order to get their bingo prizes was hilarious. Only minor annoyance was in between calling out the bingo numbers the music was blaring so loud to the point where my friends and I had to yell in order to hear each other, but overall we had a great time. We’ll be back!

  2. I love this bar. It’s grungy and full of locals (which in Austin means it’s a gem) and has an awesome selection of music on the jukebox. Day or night – this is one of my east side favorites.

P.S. people know that bar rescue is (like most reality TV) influenced/pretty fake right?

  3. The Brixton is a very versatile bar. On Monday’s they have Brixton Bingo. If you love free pizza, popcorn, prizes, and the occasional free shot I suggest you go. What other bar is so generous enough to offer the ENTIRE bar a free shot when 069 is called? Seriously, it’s awesome. Aside from the occasional free shot at Bingo, you get to spend time with a pretty diverse crowd – which I appreciate.

The owners and the bartenders are literally the sweetest human beings. I’m sorry if you feel otherwise. They are attentive, friendly, and the drinks are always affordable. There are plenty of Happy Hour’s and Drink Specials to chime in on throughout the week, too.

If you want to get down and dance on a Monday, chill out and drink frozen drinks on a Sunday, or enjoy an old fashioned on a Wednesday – go to The Brixton.

My review is too short so I have to keep talking–Great atmosphere with the cool candle lit bar spilling out onto the airy Austin street scene deck.
    Go there-it’s cool!
