The Dogwood 6th Street Austin TX Bar is an Austin “homegrown” concept with a small touch of southern hospitality. Being from the south, as well as the Dogwood being our grandmother’s favorite tree, we figured the iconic tree would be a perfect logo to showcase our “outdoor entertaining” concept throughout the bar. Natural stones and woods run throughout the spacious 3500 square foot interior and brings you through floor to ceiling walkthroughs into a gorgeous 3500 square foot patio.

The Dogwood is a chance for us to “give back” just a bit by showcasing one of Austin’s first organic drink menu as well as featuring an entire menu of your favorite local brews. Check out the Tru Liquor bio to see how you have helped plant a tree for every drink you buy. 90% of our materials used for construction was recycled material from the existing buildings demo phase as well. We don’t claim to be “green” but every little bit helps.

There are several cool features of The Dogwood that separates us from the average bar. We have a huge stage ready for live entertainment or presentations, as well as state of the art audio and visual equipment pre wired for any event. Not to mention, our 11 flat screens and 108″ high definition projector makes The Dogwood a perfect place for game day as well as any and all sporting events. I highly recommend an ice cold Deep Eddy sweet tea vodka poured straight from the ice tap while kicked back on the patio as well.

Bottom line, we are just simple people looking to simply show everyone a good time. Throw on some flip flops, or even your favorite cocktail dress, and come check us out.

  1. Tuesday night tacos! I have no other exposure to this place, but their $4 tacos on Tuesday night are some of the best in town. Go early, cold beer, leave early, no crowds. Nice outdoor patio.

  2. place I love to hate. I call it “douchewood” yet still find myself perusing and enjoying the territory at the end of a fun night. There’s always space on the small dance floor inside and the staff has always been nice.

  3. This is a west 6th bar, though it’s a little more “Austin-y” and a little less “Dallas-y” than some other bars on West. Probably the best outdoor area on West, with misters and fans usually running. Heavy A/C inside for those hot summer nights. Usually the drinks are affordable, and they have some solid DJs on they weekend. Great change of pace for West if you’ve been spending all your time at Rio or Concrete Cowboy

  4. Definitely a yopro bar with generally attractive patrons. I could see how this place can be perceived as “douchey” but I personally don’t agree with it. . Yes, it caters to the mid-20s crowd, so if that’s not something you’re looking for, take your business elsewhere. Bathrooms are decent and though it gets crowded, people are civil and considerate in weaving through groups. I like this bar a lot, and usually pop in at least once every weekend.

  5. Big fan of the Dogwood. Their food is very good for a West 6th Bar. We managed to walk in, on a busy day, during SXSW. Sat at a table (6 of us), greeted, promptly received menus, got our drink orders in – shortly ordered food. Food was hot and fresh (and delicious). Very impressed all things considered. Do try their Wings!!

  6. One of my favorite bars in Austin and very pro-business. Not only a great indoor/outdoor facility, but the people are friendly and the drinks strong. I find myself at the dogwood 2 to 3 times a month due in part to all the events the host in support of the entrepreneurial scene in the ATX! Also, the times I have eaten there the food is pretty good for a bar. Great decor, friendly people, good food and drink, and reasonable prices… 5 starts.
