Kevin Batchelor Meets Micah Shalom (Austin, TX)

This show marks the 6th overall meeting between veteran trumpeter Kevin Batchelor and Micah Shalom. The previous collaborations took place starting in 2008 in Florida along with Studio One Tenor Sax player Cedric IM Brooks, both of which appear as guest soloists on Micah Shalom’s first album Unity Swing. This will be the 1st time the 2 trumpeters meet in Texas since October of 2019!

For thirty years Kevin Batchelor has been a part of the who´s who of the international music scene.
Batchelor´s recording and touring credits include Steel Pulse, Skatalites, Jimmy Cliff, Maxi Priest, Shaggy, Rihanna, and most recently Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones.
Some of the venues and rooms Batchelor has worked include, Le Zenith, New Morning, Elysee Montmartre in Paris.; Jazz Cafe, and Brixton Academy in London; Blue Note, and Japan SunSplash in Tokyo; Rock in Rio, in Brazil and the Beacon Theater, Radio City, and Iridium in New York.
Batchelor, a St. Louis native, has had a long and deep appreciation of the post bop jazz of Kenny Dorham, Lee Morgan and Freddie Hubbard. His horn sound harkens back to the Blue Note era of the 60´s.
