Get ready to experience the authentic and timeless sounds of the alternative country scene as the Gus Miller Band takes the stage at Poodie’s Roadhouse in Texas’ beautiful Hill Country. The band will be headlining a night of roots, country, and cosmic music on March 25th, at 10:30pm. The Rob Fabre Band will be opening the show at 8pm.
With influences from the likes of Gram Parsons, Willie Nelson, and Jerry Jeff Walker, Gus Miller has a unique style that’s described as a “laid back outlaw hippie country vibe, rooted in place and attitude” by LA On Lock. Independent Music Review has praised his music as “flowing in the flavour of some tight vintage outlaw country,” while Music Mecca called it “reminiscent of country classics from eras of the past.” Over the years, Miller has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Ray Wylie Hubbard, The Wood Brothers, and Jason Boland.
At 29 years young, Miller is quickly becoming one of the most promising acts in the American Roots music scene. He has garnered critical acclaim for his songwriting, having been named a winning finalist in the Kerrville Folk Festival’s university songwriting competition. His debut EP, released in November 2020, has been well-received by fans and critics alike. With a full-length record on the horizon, recording set to begin this April, it’s clear that Gus Miller is poised for big things in the years to come.
Rob Fabre’s music is a captivating blend of the timeless traditions of American folk music and the cultural heritage of his Mexican upbringing. Originally from Mexico, Rob’s musical journey took him to Texas where he discovered the vibrant sounds of western swing, country, blues, and roots music. Infusing his own unique style with these influences, Rob has created a sound that is both familiar and fresh, with rich storytelling and soulful melodies. Fabre’s music spans across cultures and borders, evoking the passion of his Mexican roots while celebrating the diversity and beauty of American folk music.
Over the years, Poodie’s has hosted music legends such as Willie Nelson, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Billy Joe Shaver, Jerry Jeff Walker, Freddy Powers, and Asleep at the Wheel, just to name a few. With great food, cold beer, and sensational sunsets on Poodie’s big deck, it’s no wonder that Poodie always said, “No Bad Days.”
