East Austin proudly welcomes Baton Creole, a new Cajun food trailer located at 907 E. 6th Street (across from El Milagro). Featuring unique twists on Cajun classics, Baton Creole hosts their grand opening party on Saturday, April 27th from 3-7pm with live music from Gumbo Ce Soir and vintage soul and rock ‘n roll from DJ Cut-A-Rug.
Complimentary beverages will be provided by wonderful local vendors. New Orleans Style Rum Hurricanes and a delicious dark Schwartz from a local brewery, with Baton Creole offering samples of their menu items from 3pm until they’re gone.
Open since February of this year, Baton Creole is the dream of owner-operator Lynzy “Pub” Moran, a Louisiana native that wanted to blend the flavors of traditional Southern Louisiana cooking with Austin food trailer culture. Dishing up southern hospitality and blasting soul and r&b tunes from her big pink trailer with Cadillac rims, Pub serves up Cajun classics with drunk, late-night consumers in mind: Boudin balls on-a-stick, jambalaya on-a-stick, beer-battered alligator on-a-stick, and Zapp’s potato chip fried chicken on-a-stick. Vegetarian? Baton Creole offers up vegetarian jambalaya, green bean casserole and crab boil potato salad, too. In the mood for a sweet treat? Beignet on-a-stick satisfies any late-night craving.
What’s with the on-a-stick obsession? “I wanted to serve up Cajun food that you could eat with one hand while you stumbled home drunk from the bars — it’s as simple as that,” Pub says.
Baton Creole is a BYOB restaurant. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to partake of the free libations and samples and to bring their own party. Music begins at 3pm. Gumbo Ce Soir is a traditional cajun band from Austin, TX. DJ Cut-A-Rug plays funk, soul and rock ‘n roll wax in the heart of ATX.
