Established in 1975 by the late Clifford Antone, Antone’s is an iconic blues venue located in downtown Austin. Over the past 40 years, Antone’s has brought Austin a variety of blues and R&B musicians from across the country including B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Jimmy Reed, Ray Charles, and James Brown, and helped develop local talent like Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Bob Schneider, Gary Clark Jr., and others. In 2015, the historic brand was restored and a new team brought the iconic venue back to the downtown Austin landscape with a renewed focus on once again making Antone’s the “Home of the Blues.”

  1. I love the Blues and this is where I got to get it in Austin TX!!  Antone’s rocks, laid back and casual with blistering talent… I will be back!

  2. Absolutely a awesome evening listening to jazz, swing & blues.   Crowd was great – everyone seemed like serious music aficionados and digging it all.     Also had a decent wine selection.  Bam.  We will be back.

  3. I love this place. We took my little sister, who was visiting, for her birthday. It was the one place she was dying to go. It happened to be free cover, and $2 Lonestar Tall Boys. I mean out of the gate it was a recipe for fun. The music was incredibly fun, and I got to take a few spins on the dance floor with my wife. The cherry on the top was the great boot shine I got out front from the guys that have worked there for decades. They had some fun stories to tell. If you’ve never been, GO. If you’ve been in the past, but forgot about it, GO BACK. Support this iconic Austin spot, so that we never lose it!

  5. I came here for the Prince Tribute night with a small group.  We left our car with the valet at the steak place next door since we had just dined there and walked over.

It’s a pretty large space considering the location and all the staff from door guys to bartenders were friendly.  The lines for the bathroom were a little bit long but this is to be expected in any bar downtown.  The drink prices are a bit higher than I am used to since I mostly go to bars off of sixth street, on the East side or near my house.

They get a bunch of great music talent through here and this show was spectacular.  The only complaint I have is that it was really hot in the venue and the sound wasn’t so great on the outer areas of the room.  If you come here make sure you are dressed appropriately and stand towards the middle of the room.

  6. this is the new location and I love it.
right across from the westin and easy to find.
the entry way is well decorated with a vintage look and a merchandise store to the right.
after walking in the restrooms are to the right and the bar is to the left.
the bar can get crowded but that is a good sign.
we went to an event and enjoyed free music from 3 different bands.
madre’s Mexican food was hosting as well, so they have space for a food buffet so this location has ample space.
    I enjoyed myself.
I didn’t rate it 5 stars because they had tables and chairs but not enough chairs. ppl were moving them all over and we had to wait for chairs to become available. everyone else had to stand.
overall I will come back to this location for a different event.

  7. Antone’s has morphed into a beautiful butterfly! I adore the new space. Not as big or industrial as the past location and with better acoustics. There’s some class going on here. Plus the owners have added a number of tables to the large dance floor. You know everyone dances here, right? Even if you stand up at your table and shake it.

We saw Miss Lavelle White several weeks ago. If you have not seen this Blues Icon, get yourself down there! Typically, she plays an early show at 6:30. Miss Lavelle White is seriously hot for a woman of 86 years young. I love her style and her original songs. When I got up to dance she continued to sing: “Take yer drawers off” over and over! I wanted to follow her orders as she has one of those melodious bluesy voices that make me swoon. But I decided I’d err on the side of discretion this time.

When we left for dinner, we met Preston, former US Marine, working a pair of boots and conversing with his customers right outside the door. Next to him, House Park Barbecue was offered for cheap by a young friend. Austin is still a small town after all and Antone’s obviously embraces the concept.

One mention about, Will, an Antone’s co-owner. I contacted him and asked a special favor for our visit and he was extremely gracious in complying with my request. How wonderful that in Austin you can still ask a large and famous music venue for assistance and someone will help you. I’m a fan forever.
