Hotel Vegas offers live music just about every day of the week. Full bar, live music, large backyard outdoor space. Located on eclectic East 6th Street.

Hotel Vegas has built a devoted following via it’s eclectic offering of original music artists, creative covers nights, and the occasional monster showcase. The club functions hand in hand with its sister spot, the Volstead Lounge. A monster backyard known to host headline roadshows connects the two clubs outside.

  1. I dig this place. Came here for a show awhile back. Local beers $6 on a Saturday and chill place.

  2. As someone who just moved to Austin 6 months ago, I’m still considered as someone new to the scene, and rightfully so. I found Hotel Vegas back in January when looking for live music to see. (Noob. I know. Thank you to Showlist Austin. Lol.)

With that being said, I found The Sour Notes on their website and immediately felt connected to the name. I mean.. C’mon. When I found my way to the hole in the wall entrance, which reminded me of Deep Ellum in my hometown of Dallas, I couldn’t help but reminisce of dirty, drunken nights after shows on Elm Street.

With the grunge raging in my blood, I powered through the door man to an empty room with a beautiful stage. It reminded me of something that Rock N’ Roll originated from.

I kept my thoughts intact and basically ran to the bar, which is a mere 20 feet from the front entrance. I didn’t even ask for their specials for the night, (considered a greedy move, but appreciated in the industry), I ordered a Lonestar and shot of well whiskey. Grungy. I know.

Best $6 dollars I’ve ever spent. $8 including tip. Be considerate people.

So as a newbie, not yet considered an Austinite. I can proudly say, that throughout this review. I have gradually become more drunk. $30 down the hole, I’m well spent and have seen some of the best Rock in my life.

I highly recommend this place on a Monday and most definitely on a Friday or Saturday.

I hope I’ve earned my respect.

    Peace.

  3. Cool place to catch a concert on East Sixth!
This is an old-school Lone Star swillin’ redneck meets Vegas type of dive. This is not some glamorous place, like the Bellagio in Vegas, more like Freemont Street.
It’s dirty here- I enjoy checking out the many stains on the ceiling wondering how the hell whatever that is up there, how it got up there. It doesn’t look like most of the place has been cleaned well since Vegas was run by the mafia.
One of the cool things about this place is the bands that they get- they’re always doing something with live music. You are in the Live Music Capitol of the World, after all. There’s often two stages- one inside with an intimate feel to it, where you’re greeted with cheap beers and a wall of sound. It’s loud in there. The restrooms are fairly clean, but often get crowded quickly.
Outside, they have a back stage that’s nice when it’s going on. They often do SXSW stuff back there, and have an outside bar to help with the drink situations.
This is not the place to get some fancy Vegas cocktail- it’s all about the cheap beer and shot combos- you come here to get down to business.
    And what happens in Vegas…

  4. Had a great time at Hotel Vegas during the opening night of SXSW 2017. The bartenders were great, the sound system was loud, and the restrooms were clean.

  5. I come to Hotel Vegas to get down and dirty. That’s right – you heard it here first.

What I actually mean to say is that if you like to sweat it out and dance like nobody is watching, this is the place to spend your Friday evenings. Whether you’re drunk, sober, or barely conscious, you ain’t livin’ until you’ve grooved to the tunes here.

The first time I entered the venue, I was on a date with my current flame. This flame is not fond of dancing, but I am. They were nice enough to take me, and quietly stood in the corner while watching the sweat roll off my pores.

The music was incredible. Everybody looked like they were dressed from 1997, but not old enough to remember Hanson.
(For the record, I am old enough to remember what I wore in 1997 and the music of Hanson).
For that reason, I felt out of place. But the music and the alcohol that I had imbibed made me remember that we are all human, one and the same, born from the same very zygote, and that life is truly beautiful.

No, I was not on drugs, and nor do I condone the sort. Hotel Vegas just has that vibe – the vibe that makes you remember how beautiful life is.

  6. Live music venue that has had(and still has) good shows. Its an indoor and outdoor hangout spot- the type of place thats always on my list of places to go check out while im on the east side. check for cover, wear whatever you want, great place to people watch.

  7. Love hotel Vegas! Great scene, cheap drinks and everything you want in a music venue.

Pool tables are working, spacious backyard and yummy late- night food by Crazy Ricky’s!

If you don’t like loud music this isn’t the place for you so you might want to move out of Austin. However, if you’re looking for a new favorite band then you’ve come to the right place.

    Long live Hotel Vegas!

  8. Cheap drinks and quality live entertainment!!

$3.00 cover charge gets you into a small room with lots of love. I was greeted by a talented lineup of Soul/R&B music. The ambience was very hip and filled with characters from all walks of life.

Come for simple, quality beverages and stay for the plethora of personalities to delve into conversation with.
