Italic is open daily for lunch, happy hour and dinner. We’re Italian fare located on 6th Street in the heart of Austin’s downtown entertainment district.

Farm-to-table selections include seasonally rotating pastas – perfect with a cocktail or selection from our 100-percent Italian wine list.

Start with antipasti selections ranging from cured meats, Italian cheeses, olives and house-marinated produce to house-baked focaccia. Next, select a rustic pizza or entrée such as roasted half chicken or Florence-style T-bone steak, all of which are made in our top-of-the-line American-built pizza oven.

  1. I went in thinking it would be Just OK and left out thinking I’ve just eaten the best pizza I’ve ever eaten
    The lasagna was good also

  2. Tasty Italian food with an extensive wine selection. My friend and I came during happy hour- half off bottles and pizza! We tried the Eggplant pizza which was intriguingly delicious. The lemon ricotta was not overpowering, it was creamy with a hint of lemon and went nicely with the eggplant and capers. The Bucatini was also very flavorful. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and the sauce had the right amount of heat. Great service, very friendly and attentive. Will definitely be going back to this place to try more dishes!

  3. Funny story… the fire alarm in the whole building went off when we first got here. They had to evacuate us from the general dining area for about 30 minutes.

We didn’t leave – we’d already paid for parking, and they were super nice and got us all some wine while we hung out for the Fire Department. If you were wondering, I’d drink wine and wait for the fire department any day. lol

From pizzas to raviolis and the bolognese, we were all very satisfied with our dinners!

I loved the dim lighting and the prompt service from our server.

We ordered a apple/pear tart that wasn’t too sweet – and cooked just right.
The flavors on all of the dishes tasted very precise.

I’d say this is a great place for a date, or a higher-end get together.

    Parking is standard downtown parking.

  4. First impression – young, trendy, but a lot of authentic touches.

This place is mashup of a classic Italian restaurant and a trendy wine bar. Meal started with some great bread that seemed freshly baked. We ate classic Italian dishes while listening to hip hop and punk. My gnocchi was out of this world.

Verdict: I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good Italian meal, but if you’re looking for classical music over dinner, this may not be your place. Portions were not ample but appropriate. The focus is flavor over presentation, but nobody in my party was complaining.

  5. We came here for our social media blog to try it out. Two things it would have gotten a 5 star but there dinner menu is a bit intimidating for good ole Italian classic seeking diners.

The sauce is to die for tho! Whatever you do get a side of their red sauce and dip whatever you can find in it. It’s like a luxurious tomato soup made for your pasta. I cannot get enough of it. I would eat their lasagna all day everyday bathed in that sauce if I could. And for my bday I want a jar of this so I can take it home and eat it as soup with a grilled cheese without judgement

    Anyways eat here it’s good

  6. I just love Italic!

The whole vibe of the restaurant is a stand out to me. It’s bright and open. Lucky for me, I work downtown and get to eat here relatively frequently for work lunches and the food and service has always been consistent. They are also always doing great happy hour and late night specials, so keep an eye on those!

    Some of my favorites…
    – Kale Salad
    – Butternut squash soup
    – Penne Rigate Bolognese (my fave of the pastas!)
    – Lasagna
    – Foccacia Sandwich
    – Soppressata pizza
    – Crispy Polenta (so good!)

I’m dying to come here for brunch some day very, very soon!

  7. The food here is great! The service here is great! A star deduction because it is pretty pricey…For example, my friend ordered the $20+ roast chicken and she had to pay an additional $7 for a side of steamed broccoli because the chicken didn’t come with a side.

I came here with two girlfriends for a girls night out. This is definitely the perfect location for a girls night! We shared a bottle of wine, pizza, and fried polenta. One of our friends was doing the Whole 30 and she got the roasted chicken (be warned, it takes 30 minutes to make). The wait staff was also very attentive, whether it be with wine suggestions or refilling our water. For a splurge, I’ll definitely be back!

  8. Excellent place to have a dinner with friends. I dug the ambience though it was too dim. The ravioli with button mushrooms was tasty; I wish I had more. Thankfully, my friend let me had a slice of her pizza, which I must say is equally delicious. Jonathan, our group’s server, did great and was such a gentleman. I don’t recall a moment when my glass was empty. Bathrooms are immaculate.

Unrelated or not, but my crew and I walked to Italic from the hurly burly of 6th Street. During the 10-minute or so trek, I came upon an amazing sight at 6th and South Congress: our state capitol. With the traffic on Congress waiting for the green light, I took whatever few seconds I had to snap a photo of the best state capitol building in America.

  9. Updating this review since I finally got to try the calamari salad. The menu gets rotated and I’ve been wanting to catch this on the menu. So glad I did because I couldn’t get enough of the vinaigrette. I wanted a a whole bottle of it! I did ask our waitor what was in it. Tried to replicate it at home but couldn’t get that tangy and semi sweet taste of it.

Another surprisingly delicious item was the affogato. It is a small dessert but very satisfying. Just the right amount of bitterness from the espresso and sweetness from the ice cream. Love the added crunch of the chocolate shavings. Love their tiramisu too! Save room for dessert!
