Llama’s Peruvian Creole Downtown Austin Food Truck brings authentic Peruvian flavors to the streets of Austin with delectable dishes from Chef Julio-Cesar Florez. Featuring traditional Peruvian pepper sauces of Lima and the Central Coast, Llama’s top quality, homemade dishes are always a hit.

As a native of Peru, owner Miguel Barrutia longed for the delicious cuisine so much that he had to open a place of his own. Drawing from the amazing dishes his mother, aunt and grandmother served up daily at home, Miguel is pleased to keep up a proud culinary tradition in Austin.

“This food truck offers some of the most traditional Peruvian dishes. Try the Lomo Saltado, Anticuchos (beef heart skewers) and the Ceviche when available.”
Ian

“Llama’s is a fairly new Peruvian trailer near Sixth Street in downtown Austin. If the aromas of cilantro lime rice aren’t enough to convince you, they are happy to give you a free sample – just ask!”

  1. Awesome food. The best food from a food truck I have ever had. We ordered chicken lomo saltado dish that was out of this world.

  2. We tried the ceviche downtown years ago and have always wanted to come back and try more items. Today was 1/2 off so we went to the one in E 7th and it was delicious! Great food awesome location, cooling mist, free parking, nice staff, etc.

  3. Oh, Llama’s. Let me just sum it up for you… the last Time I visited Austin, my cousin and I sat outside in the pouring rain (and thunder) just to eat their dishes. I’ve had several different items from here and each has been exquisite. Upon first glance, you’d think… oh, chicken and rice.. no big deal. Then it hits your taste buds and it’s like heaven on earth laced with Peruvian herbs and spices. Also, it’s perfect for sober or drunken moments 🙂 enjoy!

  4. My first time trying the Peruvian cuisine and that too on a food cart! Couldn’t wait to try his place out . Loved that they had vegetarian options ( they are nice enough to accommodate requests)! Must try the stir fry !

  5. Really good Peruvian food–I have no complaints at all. My friend is Peruvian and wanted me to try the ceviche but they unfortunately didn’t have any the 2 times we had gone during our trip to Austin. Order anything on the menu and you won’t be disappointed! We got the lomo saltado, salchipapas con huacaina, and alfajores. All of them were great!

  6. Whether I order from a delivery service or sit in, the food quality is always excellent and consistent. They never forget the sauces and serve great quality meats and veggies! Also, the staff is super efficient and friendly! The tables and trash area is always clean when dining and there is music on which makes it a nice atmosphere. It’s nice when they do promotions and free food events. Best food truck in Austin!

  7. The food here is excellent and the prices are cheap. This is located between 6th and 7th, and has a few tables if you want to eat there. I would recommend taking your order to go however. Some shady characters kept walking by, and multiple people asked me for money. It’s Austin though, so that isn’t that unusual.

  8. The location of this food truck is AMAZING.

Seeing a show at the Ritz? this is a GREAT place to get some food beforehand if you’re not feeling Alamo’s menu. The person cooking when we were there was super nice – he gave me great suggestions and even some samples to try things we didn’t order. That definitely earns them an extra star.

I got the Lomo Saltado (beef/veggies/rice) and some Alfajores (shortbread cookies with dulce de leche). The Lomo saltado was filling and satisfying, but kind of acidic. The alfajores were AMAZING – i kind of wish i had ordered a few more. The cookies are softer than i expected, and the tiny size of these cookies is perfect.

Can’t wait to go back and try some sandwiches!

  9. Best place to get ceviche. It’s made with big chunks of fish, choclo (looks like roasted hominy) AND a big shaven sweet potato on top. Man, I love dis place! Just tried those lil cookies they got there too and DANGGGG. Sometimes I go in the broad daylight when I opt out of participating with the rest of the 2am downtown sludge (said with love)

Anyway, sometimes I go like at 7 when everything’s peaceful and people watch and the warm Texas sun’s going down. This is what Austin’s about.
