  1. Cozy, cave-like interior with excellent cocktails and beer list. Service is friendly. Outside seating is charming considering it’s a tent with lights. I appreciated the mannequin. Can order from Thai Kun if you’re feeling peckish.

  2. Great craft drinks, indoor and outdoor space. There was a great Thai food truck. Drinks we tried: Fools goals, old fashion, one with the name last in it. All were great, very fresh!

  3. Great vive and a mixed crowd, from early 20’s to early 50’s. One large inside bar and a smaller one outside. A mezcal ver up in the second floor. The bartenders are super friendly and the cocktails, at around $6 each, are reasonably prized. The decoration is super casual, eclectic western antiques and picnic tables in the patio. People ave friendly and for the most are good with sharing a table with you. Best bar on 6th street!

  4. I can’t believe I almost forgot about Whisler’s! This little bar took my breath away.

Whisler’s is a perfect place to enjoy a drink outside in the evening. My bf and I stumbled across it while we were in Austin.

Upon entering we heard a live musician playing. The inside is pretty dark but it has a romantic vibe and was super intimate. The decor was all antiques and huge mirrors so it was very aesthetic. It was pretty busy the night we came in but we were able to find seating inside then moved outside.

We ordered a huge drink to split. It had an edible flower inside of it. The prices were pretty steep but we were on vacation so we didn’t care!

They also had a food truck parked right by if you wanted a bite to eat!

    Love love love Whisler’s

  5. This is a roomy and nice place. I tried the Old Fashioned which did have quite strong flavors. I don’t mean it’s not good, but it might not be a good choice if you are not that into strong liquors. My friend ordered Cat Bus. It was so fresh and nicely sour with peach tea in it. I would recommend this one for a relaxing night!

  6. Cannot recommend this place enough! I read a ton about this place so of course I had to check it out during my vacation in Austin. There cocktails definitely did not disappoint! My favorite was the rosemary cocktail

  7. Vibe in here is so cute. Rustic stone walls with rusty mirrors strapped to the walls. A ton of fresh fruit for custom elixirs and cocktails yum!

  8. Really cool cocktail bar with an expensive outdoor area and a banging Thai food truck. The drinks weren’t overly pretentious and they had classics like Moscow miles, etc. The vibe here is so cool and i would definitely recommend as a date spot.

  9. This place is super cool. Off the beaten path of 6th street, you might find some tranquility here. The cocktails are TOP NOTCH. I’ve never seen such a perfect ice cube in my life. I enjoyed the old fashioned cocktail multiple times during my week in Austin. There is also a drink on the menu with tequila and some kind of passion fruit that was out of this world.

The bar area has a really cool Gothic vibe to it and gets crowded, but they have this huge patio area in the back with a mist system. Amazing space.

  10. Great bar and great setting! We tried a few of their cocktails (Old Fashioned, La Llorna, and a Paloma). All were tasty – they have two bars to order from, great outdoor space. Even in the heat, they had plenty of shade and fans going so the summer heat was no issue at all. We loved the Thai Kun food truck there, as well.

  11. This is a super cute and romantic cocktail bar. A Candle lit inside with unique aesthetic qualities. Old antique mirrors and unique art work line the walls. The drinks are creative. Me and my friend got a punch bowl that came in a sweet lion ceramic piece. A food truck in the outside section for the munchies and a private upstairs room for private parties.

  12. Holy s#*t, can you say ATMOSPHERE! One of the coolest bars I’ve ever stepped foot in. Old and quirky and full of attitude. Quality of cocktails match the atmosphere. A must vist on E. 6th in Austin.

  13. Whisler’s is one of the most beautiful bars I have ever visited. It was a grain mill built back in 1916 and they have done a really beautiful job maintaining the integrity of the building and revitalizing it into an awesome craft cocktail bar.

We sat at the bar top because it was so gorgeous and seating was available, but they have lots of other seating outside and a few more interior spaces available. The bartenders were really friendly and fast at serving our drinks. I started with their old fashioned and it was really tasty, but I moved on to a version of their Paloma that did not include the soda. It was so refreshing and I was really impressed with their knowledge and ability to rethink cocktails on the spot. This place would definitely be a regular spot for me if I lived in the area.

  14. Okay I’m going to be honest with you. I do not remember the specific cocktails we got- but they were balanced and delicious. What I DO remember is how frickin cool this bar was. Tons of outdoor space, awesome graffiti outside, shrine and cobblestone interior, chandelier??? The place is a perfect photo shoot…which we used it for shamelessly since we came right before closing time on a weekday. So if you were there and saw three girls doing the most basic ass shit, that was us. But it should be you too, this place is too cool to pass up.

  15. Whisler’s is a pretty cool bar. It has a fun feel and I can see having a good time here. That was not why we were there. The Mescal bar above it was our destination. Beautiful smells greet you as you enter. Low lights andgreat music follow. The mescal selection is extensive, but not overwhelming. Our server guided us through the menu. We were able to sample our way through the different varieties.

Now… this is a bar to go to if you want to sip mescal. THIS IS NOT A “BROS” HANG OUT!! There were a couple groups that thought this was the cool place to bring the beer, do shots, and get drunk… this is a place for a coinsurer and not drunks. No this doesn’t mean it is uppity. They are so nice and want to expand knowledge of mescal. This is the place to socialize and enjoy a craft mescal. Go back downstairs if you want the party.

  16. Been here a handful of times and liked it each time. This place embodies east side’s quirky, hipster, and chillax character. For food, Thai-Kun out back is good. We also brought in Via 313 from next door. They have a mezcal bar upstairs is that’s your thing. We ran into an AMAZING guitarist jamming away Saturday night. Moments like that make me feel so spoiled living here.
